Annual Scientific Congress

The discipline of ophthalmology has achieved great advancement during the past decade and is continuing to be a rapidly advancing speciality. The college takes many steps to keep its members on par with the international standards amidst these rapid advancements in order to serve the community at the best levels. The annual scientific congress is designed to produce an innovative and comprehensive overview of the latest research and developments in ophthalmology with giving emphasis on each dimension in ophthalmology. Every year many distinguished ophthalmic clinicians and scientists locally and internationally have joined the faculty to participate in this event.

The college stages the annual scientific congress as the main academic activity for the year during the last quarter of its academic year. The programme includes pre-congress workshops, inaugural session with the delivery of presidential address and 2-3 days of scientific sessions. Two other important events are the college lecture delivered by an eminent ophthalmologist and Dr P Sivasubramaniam oration.

In addition there are symposia, workshops, and free paper presentations by ophthalmologists as well as trainees. There is a poster competition open for Postgraduate trainees. The reward for the best paper presented by postgraduate trainee and the best poster is awarded by the college.

The session concludes after having a banquet dinner.

Availability of recourses also permits conducting post-congress workshops which is mainly for the benefit of postgraduate trainees.

In the year 2012 the annual scientific congress is scheduled to be held in September 20-22 at Hotel Galadari Grand ball room.

Further details (congress registration, accommodation etc) would be published on this website in due time.
